Your wedding dress is one of the most important garments you will ever own. Professional preservation protects your investment and keeps the gown ready for a daughter, a granddaughter, or simply to revisit in perfect condition on an anniversary. White Rose Bridal offers full wedding dress preservation in Newark, NJ — gentle cleaning, minor repairs, and acid-free archival packaging in a museum-quality chest with a viewing window so you can see your gown for years to come.
How preservation works at White Rose Bridal
- Bring your gown to our Newark boutique (or arrange shipping by calling us at (973) 638-2434).
- We assess the gown for stains, loose beading, lace tears, or other repair needs, and walk you through what to expect.
- The gown goes through a gentle, fabric-appropriate cleaning process — please do not pre-clean it at home or at a regular dry cleaner, since that can set stains the preservation process would otherwise lift.
- After cleaning and any approved repairs, the gown is fitted on an acid-free bust form and sealed in an acid-neutral preservation chest with a viewing window. Total turnaround is typically 4 to 10 weeks.

Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get started?
Bring your gown to our Newark boutique during open hours, or call us at (973) 638-2434 and we can walk you through pickup or shipping options.
Should I clean my dress before bringing it in?
No. Please bring it as-is. Pre-cleaning at home or at a regular dry cleaner can set stains (champagne, makeup, sweat) that our preservation process would otherwise lift. The gown should arrive untouched after the wedding.
What kinds of stains can be removed?
Approximately 95% of all stains, including tar, blood, perspiration, grass, mud, grease, food, sugar, wine, and other beverages. Champagne and sugar-based spills — which yellow over time if left in the fabric — are specifically targeted by the cleaning process.
How long does preservation take?
Typical turnaround is 4 to 10 weeks from the day we receive your gown to the day it is back in your hands, sealed in the preservation chest. We will give you a tracking reference and you are welcome to call us for updates at any point.
What can I send with my dress?
Veil, headpiece, gloves, garter, money bag, handkerchief, slip, and the flower girl gown can all be included. Additional items may carry a small fee — we go over it with you when you bring everything in. The gown and veil display in the chest window; smaller items are packed underneath.
Are repairs included?
Most minor repairs — loose beading, small lace tears, popped seams, fallen buttons — are offered for a nominal fee. We will give you a quote before any repair work starts.
What is the guarantee?
A 100-year guarantee against caramelized sugar stains and yellowing. If either appears within that period, the gown is reprocessed at no cost, or refunded if it cannot be resolved.
Can I insure my gown for additional declared value?
Yes. You can add declared value coverage at $50 per $1,000. We accept Visa, MasterCard, and Discover.
Where should I store the preservation chest at home?
A climate-controlled interior closet is ideal. Never store the chest in the attic or basement — heat, cold cycles, and humidity will undo the preservation work over time. Bedroom closet or hall closet is perfect.
Do I need to remove anything from the dress before bringing it in?
Yes — shoulder pads and bust pads should be removed before the gown goes in for preservation. Everything else (zippers, buttons, attached belts, sewn-in trim) stays.
Can I take the gown back out and wear it later?
Yes. The preservation chest is sealed but not soldered shut. If you want to wear the gown for an anniversary or restyle it for a daughter, you can open the chest, then bring it back in afterward to be re-preserved.
Do you preserve gowns I did not buy at White Rose Bridal?
Yes. We preserve any wedding gown, regardless of where you bought it — online, another boutique, or handed down. Bring it in and we will take a look.
What if I have a question once my gown is in process?
Call us at (973) 638-2434 or stop by the boutique. We track every gown that goes through preservation and we are happy to check on yours.
